I decided for myself along time ago that "liberal", "conservative," "Democrat," "Libertarian," etc. are all just words made up by people who don't like to think for themselves. We're a society of sheep, people that like to have platforms, rather than think things threw for themselves. When you have a platform, you don't have to necessarily have a position any more. You can just say "well, I'm with this group and they think this, so I think this." That's just laziness and people giving away so much of their own power. That's why the political parties have become so popular.

But I really think it's a waste of time to get into all of that. I think it's more important for people realize that we can only control ourselves. We can't change the world, but we can change ourselves. And that's better.

I recently just came back to the states from Europe and even setting things like government and politics aside, Europe is far more advanced. I'm not even referring to things that cost money or require government. I'm talking about people building families and communities and living and working together, making better, healthier decisions for themselves.

There was such a culture of mutual respect for every individual there that I was kind of overwhelmed by it. And people could disagree intelligently and have differing view points with the other person being a piece of shit. In America, we have developed this cultural attitude of "Fuck you and fuck you and fuck you". And nobody can work together on anything. And that guy guy over there disagrees with me on this, therefore he must hate America, so fuck him to. And how can anyone possibly get anything done constructively in that kind of culture? Really?

We don't really have constructive dialog on anything in this country. It usually goes strait to playground rules of Third grade. Most of the time we're not even discussing ideas anymore. Instead, we've made silly little names to call each other. Dumbacrats, Libtards, etc. Really? Does that help? Instead, why don't you actually tell me how you would like to improve healthcare for example, what steps you think need to be taken, or even why it doesn't need to be fixed. As long as we're talking about each other, we're not talking about the ideas. And that's why nothing gets done.

Since when did accepting the status quo become the definition of unreasonableness? Progress is of course dependent on individuals and pressure groups lobbying for change, but to pursue change is not necessarily to be unreasonable.
