We have been evolving for millions of years and look how far we've come - protests, everybody hates each other. We can hardly call that fast evolution. AI however has only come about in the recent decade(s) and it has already come closer to perfection than humans have. The end result is that we would probably just wind causing mass genocide in our panicked attempt to build weapons strong enough.
