Keeping as many people alive as long as possible - strengthens the gene pool.

If only a specific set of genes survive and there's a catastrophic event which that specific set of genes cannot handle, then it is game over for the human race.  But if we keep as many people alive as long as possible, then there's a chance that one of those "weak" genes is able to handle that catastrophic event.

Even if that were to happen, your argument only supports that the human race will survive, not that the situation will result in strengthening the genepool...

Reproduction is a more effective way to strengthen a given gene pool. The process of natural selection would cause genes more useful for survival to propagate.

How can keeping people alive as long as possible possibly help the gene pool when most of us will be far to old, bed ridden and feeble to procreate

If limited space and resource were not at play (meaning overpopulation would be impossible and not a concern) then I would 100% agree to this.

Please try and retort me with some degree of sensibility. I know that's hard for you Joe, but I will not be replying to you if you reply with this level of nonsense in the future. They would die on Mars which would disprove the debate topic.
