All we have to do is change the definition of maternity. It's not like there isn't a precedence we can point to ;)

Sadly, you are ri .... er... correct. The definitions of freedom, of freedom of religion, of "well regulated militia", of democracy, of privilege, of patriotism, of rights, etc., are changed every day. Why not maternity? It could mean "having a cow because we got screwed!" WTF, everything has changed, seems America got trumped somewhere along the line.

Well, as shit talk goes and shit talk comes that's the mother of all shit talk.

What holiday happy day dreamers appear to be incapable of understanding is that overheads don't take ''meternity'' leave, or even maternity leave for that matter.

Fixed overheads such as light, heat, power, rent, rates, telephone/I.T costs, insurance premiums, accountancy fees, post package & stationery etc., don't take vacations.

The 'hardware' of many corporations such as trucks, plant, machinery and equipment are on hire purchase and the installments must be paid religiously each month or their credit rating slumps.

This equates to making it more difficult to secure finance with which to purchase the equipment necessary to keep the wheels turning and, if and when funding is made available it will be at increased rates.

When I had my own business I operated with teams of two men per truck.

If one or more operatives went off sick I had to hire in 'casual labour' which effectively meant that the same amount was completed but with additional labour costs.

These additional labour costs can be critical for any company trading on low profit margins.

We are all trying to compete in a global market in which some of our Asian competitors pay their workforce nigh on 'slave labour wages', only have a fraction the overhead costs such as health and safety regulations, industrial relation legislation, minimum wages, statutory holiday entitlement etc., etc.

All the while we have dirty little shitheads spewing out a load of eye-wateringly stupid drivel and, presumably expect to be taken seriously.

Feminist author 38-year-old Meghann Foye shows the confusion that is rampant in the Progressive Party !

Although I understand her point was to emphasize that life is about more than just your career, the way she went about doing it with "Me"ternity is just insensitive and offensive. It equates self fulfillment of any female employee as being the same as recovering from major surgery or nursing a fragile human life until it's barely old enough to sustain while the mom goes back to work. They're simply not comparable. Maternity is ONLY for women who give birth. Period.

Seems to me she just needed a catchy gimmick to sell her book. Well, it got your attention at least.

I’m still scratching my head on this one, but feminist author, 38-year-old Meghann Foye, attempted to explain herself in her book entitled, “Meternity.”

When the second line says this, it means you shouldnt read the rest of the article. If he doesn't understand it then whats the point?
