Youngsters are good with tech but what scares me is how little they know about general things, I met a 20 year old who did not understand how Hong Kong could have been part of Great Britain as its on the other side of the world!! Unfortunately she isn't alone in this kind of lack of knowledge which to me is a failure of the schools, my daughters business studies homework recently was to watch the Apprentice!! I don't think older people are smarter than younger people I just think they were given a better education. Side: True.
with the advancement of technology youths may be more prone to the technical world but it seems that older people may have perceived a good quality practical knowledge.young people have a good knowledge of everything but the grassroots are learnt from the old people only. Side: True.

Well if you actually think about it.. I'm eleven and I look up to my Granny. She was around in W.W.2 so she knows about that which I don't know very much about. Yes us people born in the last 40 years might be better at the technical side of things. But that dosent mean that we are smarter. People who are over 60 would be smarter than anyone else younger because they have already gone through most of their life and have experienced life's ups and downs and have learnt from their mistakes! Side: True.

Obviously old people are smarter than younger people. They have been around longer, therefore know more. I would never dare to try and make an argument that I am more intelligent than my elders. However, it is true that we know more around certain things, for example what the other side is referring to, things such as Ipads and other "high" technology products. But Older people also know more about things that we as younger people do not know. Side: True.

Wrong, you have the most potential for learning growing up. Older people have already reached their peek of how far they can go on most things. Also humans adapt for survival, the young generation adapts to the thinking style of the old and realizes why they do the things they do, and than we choose ours. If the difference between old and young is that the old have realized their potential, it would appear that older people are smarter but that younger people will get there. At least that's what your post seems to be saying. An empty glass doesn't contain more water than a full one simply because it is yet to be filled. Side: True.

Compared to the older generation, the younger generation has a higher percentage of people who have not completed High School. Let's call that percentage X. This number represents the stupid, young, people. Compared to the older generation, the younger generation has a higher percentage of people who have completed post secondary school. Let's call that percentage Y. This number represents the smart, young people. Notice that X > Y. This means that even though the younger generation has a higher percentage of smart people, compared to smart old people, the younger generation has a much higher percentage of stupid people, compared to old people. So any gains made in Y is drastically offset by X. Let's say (from left to right) 1 represents stupid and 10 represents smart. The old people would range between 5 and 9 inclusive. The young people would range between 2 and 10. That means that if there were 10 old people, they would all fall within 5 and 9 but the 10 young people would be spread out more. There would be 3 really stupid, young, people and only one really smart one. If both people, the old and the young, follow the bell curve (which is a reasonable assumption) then the top of the bell would be shifted left (dumb) for the young people and right (smart) for the old people. The article is ridiculous. Big companies are complaining that they can't find "skilled" workers which just means job experience. How are you supposed to find people out of college with 30 years job experience like the old fart being replaced. The problem is the big companies forgot what skills they are looking for. Old people are usually socially conservative which means they detest the idea of progress and revolution, that is one of the biggest things that make them less smart than young people! Young people are forward thinkers, they welcome change and progress and most of all they are more intellectual! Side: Try using a smart phone or tab
