Should Sesame Street's Burt and Ernie get married

I hope no one is shocked, I mean, I don't want to be the one responsible for outting Burt and Ernie.

It's just a matter of time before Burt pops the question. Poor Ernie's been quite patient with the whole situation. ;)

If it supports the idea that homosexuality isn't wrong, then I am for it 100%. It makes me extremely sad to see some people would disapprove of this.

Side: Go-4-it

Yes, they should get married. ----------------------------------

Should Sesame Street's Burt and Ernie get married

Why the heck not... They should even start counting!

Side: Go-4-it

I don't think i ever watch a full episode of Sesame Street. Maybe just a few seconds. I guess i wasn't into it. But the idea of two male couples being married might send a good message for the children that homosexuality isn't wrong.

However, i feel like parents might be outrage and that maybe the ratings will drop. dunno tho. hope not.

Side: Go-4-it

Them getting married will help children be more tolerate of gay people when they grow up. Not only would their choice of marriage be good for them... it would be good for America.

Side: Go-4-it

I always thought that Burt and Ernie were butt rangers, but apparently, they were in the closet. It is good to see that they have come out.

Side: Go-4-it

obviously just by the pic at the top you can tell that they are gay so sure you could say they should get married but i honestly don't think this debate is all that serious lol its just a funny question...

What gender are they? and am I correct in the fact that Bert has had past associations with the infamous Osama bin Laden?

Side: Wait..., What? No!

I think they are either males or very ugly women. As far as your second question, I think that was Ernie you're thinking of, but I could be mistaken. Google it ;)

I frown open thrusting young children with homosexual material.

But on your other statement, I did google it and it was Bert who's evil.

They are males. There are many places where Burt and Ernie can get married. States, countries, etc. However I don't think they would be welcomed back on Sesame St.

That green trash can fucker would have a sign made "God hates fags".

:)

Side: Go-4-it

Who? Oscar? He's not that bad. Maybe a sign that says, "Don't mess with my can." But that's about it ;)

Side: Go-4-it

I am against it, not because i think gay marriage is wrong, but in childrens shows, how many times do they protray marriage, gay or straight.

I think they should peddle into this more slowly. maybe have the two have a be used to show an healthy relationship, as all kids could benifit from that.

Side: they should take it slow

nooooo..... i feel we should be driving away from gay marriage as quickly as possible. And to start lets just avoid teaching it to kids.

Marriage has absolutely nothing to do with sex at that stage in a child's life. Don't you remember what it was like being a child at all? Your mommy and daddy loved each other very much, they one day made a big wish, and had you. And then they did the same thing with your little brother/sister, and mommy got mysteriously round and more cuddly after her and daddy made the wish for your younger sibling.

So what makes your mind suddenly think that a GAY marriage is suddenly going to make children get exposed to gay sex? They won't, you cad. They'll get married on Sesame Street, then the children will ask their parents, "How come they got married? Aren't they two daddies?"

And the parents will say, "Well sometimes whatever-your-name-is, two daddies or two mommies can love each other very much, so they get married, just like a mommy and daddy."

Pretty simple. No sex involved.

In fact, it would help children grow up to be more accepting of homosexuals.

Side: Go-4-it

If the children ask, "How come they got married? Aren't they two daddies?"

then it means that they recognize that there's a gap in their understanding of the word, "Marriage" which needs to be filled in with an explanation. But, if the government would just stop using the word "marriage" and started using the words, "Civil Union" instead (for everyone), then there wold be no gap in their understanding of the word, "marriage" and no explanation would be needed.

I know you are going to dispute me but please consider the following for just one second.

What is the purpose of marriage?

Is it to proclaim to everyone at your wedding that you love the person you are marrying? If so, why does the government need to sanction your proclamation? Does the "marriage license" make your proclamation more valid?

Is it to proclaim to everyone at your wedding that you promise to spend the rest of your life with your spouse? What if you get a divorce? Does that mean that your proclamation was a momentary lapse of reason (that you really didn't meant it, your word means nothing, you no longer love that person and that you are now breaking your promise)?

Is it for the benefits the government gives married couples? Is it for the wedding gifts? Is it because a wedding is one hell of a party? Is it for the honey moon? Is it because it will improve your economic situation and/or your social standing? Is it because you expect to be taken care of for the rest of your life and if you get a divorce you get half?

Is it to proclaim to everyone at your wedding that you plan to raise children with the person you are marrying and that you have exclusive rights to their sperm/eggs and sexual reproductive organs?

Lots of questions. No easy answers. Yet people are out there getting married left and right and I would be surprised if anyone of them could give you a straight forward reason as to why they were getting married because it's usually a mix of the above.

Personally, I think most people get married in order to get exclusive rights to their spouse's naughty bits for sexual pleasure ;)
