The fatter you get, the dumber you get.

The findings seem to explain why heavier people are more prone to such cognitive conditions. "This is the first study to show physical evidence in the brain that connects overweight and obesity and cognitive decline," said Thompson, who is professor of neurology at UCLA and a member of the UCLA Laboratory of Neuro Imaging.
Clinically obese people had 8 percent less brain tissue, while the overweight had 4 percent less brain tissue compared to normal-weight individuals.
Overall, though, the findings really weren't surprising, added Dr. Mitchell Roslin, chief of obesity surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

The article just says that the fatter you get the smaller your brain gets. BTW, the smarter you are, the more successes you'll have and so the smarter you'll get. Conversely, the dumber you are the more the failures, the dumber you get. Side: The proof is in the puding
Er, makes sense kind of, I think there's a chicken and egg fallacy (yeah I made it up) here, I don't think getting fat = getting dumb, like, I'm sure it's perfectly possible to be fat and smart, it's just more likely to get fat if you're already dumb... likely. Then maybe it leads to some kind of vicious circle. but my evidence consists of me thinking about it for 10 seconds so I could be wrong :) Side: The proof is in the puding
I think the fatter you get, the lazier you get, but I didn't think they would do a study on intelligence and obesity. I don't think it could be definitively proved though, due to the possibility of an obese person having a fair amount of intelligence. Just because you are fat doesn't mean you are dumb, although you probably make some dumb decisions to get fat... Side: The proof is in the puding
