The iPhone X is a status symbol.

iPhone X is the most breakable iPhone.
Only rich and important people can afford to buy and maintain an iPhone X.
If your iPhone X is broken
then
you are fake.
If you own an iPhone X and it is not broken
then
you are either extremely careful
or
you get a new one every times it breaks
or
you get it fixed every time it breaks.
If you get it fixed every time it breaks
then
you are not so important because you can go a long time without your phone.

If you're a status seeker, then you are probably an ass hole ;)

The iPhone X interface is a disaster. If you are rich, you can afford to get one just for show and a different phone for every day use. ;)

If you own an iPhone, you are supporting child labor in Southeast Asia and probably contributing to the slaughter of puppies ;)

iPhone 8 was released at the same time for the masses, so yes I think you're probably right.

I must go father. Sure, one particular phone may be a status symbol, but I am of the opinion that if you own a smart phone at all you are allowing it to think for you.

Still clinging to a flip phone. Wouldn't even own that if it wasn't a professional requirement to be in contact at all times.

I prefer to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem, that's why I don't appeal to stupidity and stimulate the retardation glands of the common idiot but instead try to force something of correctness into their puny sophomoric cranium.
