The younger generation should respect the older, smarter, generation.

The younger generation is building on top of what was already there.

If the infrastructure wasn't there, they wouldn't know what to do.

Think about what it would take to "reboot" our society in the even of a global disaster. ;)

in the even of a global disaster. ;)

You grew up without spell check too. Too bad it still wouldn't catch even instead of event.

Side: True.

That's a typo. Not a blatant, gross, misspelling. I mean, it's not like I typed "lead" when what I really wanted/meant to type was "lead." For example, let's say that I had a group of horses made out of lead and one of them is way out in the front. Let's also say that I had directed said horse to a source of water. I could type, "I lead the lead, lead, horse to water, but I was not able to make him drink." I could have mixed up the words "lead," Lead" and "lead" but I'm so good that I didn't. ;)

You mean the generation that inherited a super-power and sold it piece by peace to fund their own decadence... I'm sorry, i have a bit of a problem with giving free scooters, penis pumps, and social security to fat old people who are conveniently going to die right when medicare, social security, and the country as a whole goes insolvent. The baby boomers are THE WORST GENERATION EVER.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

Maybe you can find the answers to the country's problem on Google ;)

Yep, on my Chinese made computer or on my Chinese made iPhone... A whole generation can't be vindicated based on a couple dozen people's technological discoveries.

Side: True.

I think respect should be given to the smarter PEOPLE

a whole generation of people though, no. not every one deserves respect just because they're older

For kids, "smarter" means "the person who agrees with me".

Don't pretend that it's any different for adults.

Smarter means the person that makes the most sense

i don't know about you but adults say "Because i said so" a little too much to be considered smart.

"because i said so" basically means because that's what i was told when i was your age and don't really why.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

No, not because they are older, but because the passed school without Google. ;)

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

I only respect people who deserve respect.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

Double post due to my tablet acting up ;)

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

Like people who passed school without Google. ;)

Few people deserve genuine respect, and when they do it is certainly not on account of any categorical and/or arbitrary attribute such as age.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

Right. It should be because they passed school without Google. ;)

No way man, think about it. School before Google was way easier: would have been easier to plagiarize, expectations would have been lower, turnaround for homework longer, etc.

Side: True.

You passed school back when you didn't get homework until 6th grade.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

Really? That's not what I remember. ;)

I'm sorry? How is it that the older generations are smarter?!? Here in Australia they have taken away all my hope for a future, they have taken away what matters most to myself and countless others, their ignorance has put the lives of innocent Australians at risk! And it is all because of ONE VOTE.

Now I won't go into political madness right now but let me just say this, I respect a person because of something they've done themselves, not for being a certain age. Also, respect must be earned and, therefore, before I respect some random elder, they should be respecting that their decisions, although are often not relevant to themselves, have a REAL impact on MY future and that they should choose them wisely being mindful of others.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

They did do something. They passed school without Google ;)

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

Nobody is innately deserving of respect, regardless of whether it would be due to their age or the family to which they are born.

Respect is earned, and it's earned person by person. The same feat will earn you respect from one person and contempt from another.

EVERY generation builds on top of what was already there unless there is a revolution, and even then some ideas are taken from previous regimes. No single generation is responsible for establishing the world as it is today. If the older generation have made more change than the younger, it's only because they've had more time to do so. And being more experienced doesn't necessarily make one smarter - it could make a person more closed-minded and less willing to progress and change. I think that the younger generation should respect the older (not necessarily smarter) generation and vice versa.
