Wait...., what? No! Passing a Shell of A Bill in order to Ram Through Health Care Reform?!?!? Does this sound like a transparent, bipartisan and effective way to change the way millions of Americans get their health care? Of course not.

With such great importance (around 20% of GDP), I do not think this is something that we can or should push through very fast. Obama wants to push it through imo because he knows that this is probably the only time he can do it with great majorities in both houses. Come next election, I don't see the senate with more than a 55-45 majority and about a 30 seat majority in the house of representatives for the democrats. I could be wrong, that is just my opinion. Without a 60 vote majority, Obama has no prayer of getting the health reform through. It's pretty sad too. I wish Republicans would stop saying no to everything and come up with their own solutions. And this is coming from a Republican myself.

Well, I'm just going to ignore that you cite a right wing think tank as an actual source for now,

The average American, and average business simply cannot afford healthcare... not to mention all the people who thought they had healthcare then lost it when they got sick because of "pre-existing conditions" whether it be acne, or pneumonia when they were an infant,

and not to mention the 60% or bankruptcies that are a direct result of medical bills when people thought they had insurance,

whatever,

the important elements are 1. we force insurance companies to cover regardless of pre-existing conditions, and we don't allow them to drop people who have been paying for it just because they get sick. 2. Come up with an option that the 20 some million uninsured can afford. 3. Don't force people (though it's never been suggested they would except by the right) to change what they already have if they don't want.

It's obvious Republicans in Congress are willing to cut off their nose to spite their face on this one, so something needs to be passed in case dems do lose seats next election.
