Non-violence cannot tackle terrorism: Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama, a lifelong champion of non-violence candidly stated that terrorism cannot be tackled by applying the principle of ahimsa because the minds of terrorists are closed.
"Consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.
“The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 percent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US, than you are in Iraq.
“Conclusion: The US should pull out of Washington .”
In a nut shell:
Nancy Pelosi agreed to add a provision (in the public option health care bill) that would prohibit federal funds from being used for the purchase of plans that cover abortion in a new health care exchange. Leaving out the amendment would force taxpayers (who are morally against abortions) to subsidize abortion.
Pelosi’s decision to give the anti-abortion lawmakers what they wanted in exchange for their accession to passing the bill.
So..., the question is, should people who are morally against abortions be forced to pay for them?
It seems like whatever Obama touches turns to crap. He campaigns for fellow Democrats and they lose. He tries to help people with their mortgage and they lose their home.

International Bailout Brings Us Closer to Economic Collapse
Last week Congress passed the war supplemental appropriations bill. In an affront to all those who thought they voted for a peace candidate, the current president will be sending another $106 billion we don’t have to continue the bloodshed in Afghanistan and Iraq, without a hint of a plan to bring our troops home.
Many of my colleagues who voted with me as I opposed every war supplemental request under the previous administration seem to have changed their tune. I maintain that a vote to fund the war is a vote in favor of the war. Congress exercises its constitutional prerogatives through the power of the purse, and as long as Congress continues to enable these dangerous interventions abroad, there is no end in sight, that is until we face total economic collapse.
From their spending habits, an economic collapse seems to be the goal of Congress and this administration. Washington spends with impunity domestically, bailing out and nationalizing everything they can get their hands on, and the foreign aid and IMF funding in this bill can rightly be called an international bailout!
As Americans struggle through the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, this emergency supplemental appropriations bill sends $660 million to Gaza, $555 million to Israel, $310 million to Egypt, $300 million to Jordan, and $420 million to Mexico. Some $889 million will be sent to the United Nations for so-called “peacekeeping” missions. Almost one billion dollars will be sent overseas to address the global financial crisis outside our borders. Nearly $8 billion will be spent to address a “potential pandemic flu” which could result in mandatory vaccinations for no discernable reason other than to enrich the Pharmaceutical companies that make the vaccine.
Perhaps most outrageous is the $108 billion loan guarantee to the International Monetary Fund. These new loan guarantees will allow that destructive organization to continue spending taxpayer money to prop up corrupt leaders and promote harmful economic policies overseas.
Not only does sending American taxpayer money to the IMF hurt citizens here, evidence shows that it even hurts those it pretends to help. Along with IMF loans comes IMF required policy changes, called Structural Adjustment Programs, which amount to forced Keynesianism. This is the very fantasy-infused economic model that has brought our own country to its knees, and IMF loans act as the Trojan Horse to inflict it on others. Perhaps most troubling is the fact that leaders in recipient nations tend to become more concerned with the wishes of international elites than the wishes and needs of their own people. Argentina and Kenya are just two examples of countries that followed IMF mandates right off a cliff. The IMF frequently recommends currency devaluation to poorer nations, which has wiped out the already impoverished over and over. There is also a long list of brutal dictators the IMF happily supported and propped up with loans that left their oppressed populace in staggering amounts of debt with no economic progress to show for it.
We are buying nothing but evil and global oppression by sending your taxdollars to the IMF. Not to mention there is no Constitutional authority to do so. Our continued presence in Iraq and Afghanistan does not make us safer at home, but in fact undermines our national security. I vehemently opposed this Supplemental Appropriations Bill and was dismayed to see it pass so easily.
A woman has a right to an abortion, if she can afford it.
A woman does not have a right to force anyone else to pay for her abortion.
I have the right of freedom of speech. Would you like to be forced to pay in order for me to excercise my right?
The followers of atheism have historically made war. They swallow up the worlds resources making war weaponry. This lack of religion has a pattern of bringing the whole planet to the brink of a nuclear disaster which could wipe out most of the human race. This lack of religion seeks the approval of science. This lack of religion uses race baiting and scientific hypocracy to fuel hatred throughout the earth.... So I ask the question...for the good of all peaceful people on planet and the survival of the human race: should they be a continent and be forced to live there and thus be separated from the rest of the human race?
Hitler (the contenporary example of pure evil) tried to make/shape the world more to his liking (i.e., full of blond haired, blue eyed people..., or a world without Jews..., take your pick). Ofcourse, there were some who did not share his vision and labeled him as evil. Hitler was a hands on type of guy. He saw something he didn't like and he did something about it. Evil is not indifferent.
If we go with that definition for a moment, since goodness is (by definition) the opposite of evil, then goodness is doing nothing. Goodness is hands off. Goodness is indifferent. This would explain why (if there is a God) He doesn't interfere or concerns himself in the affairs of men. As a matter of fact, last time he tried to "interfere", He got nailed.... to a cross.
There's an old saying that states that in order for evil to succeed, good men need do nothing. But what these "good men" are doing is replacing someone else's world view with theirs. In other words, those being replaced see those doing the replacing as evil. If you belong to a group that is hands on..., that is NOT indifferent, then you will be seen as evil by others outside your group.
this whole "lets unite" idea is ridiculous so we should just give it up and start taking over places again
it would help the countries of europe a lot and its not like africa is doing anything with its freedom so it should be right thats the rest of us get to take it over, also britain should have a chance to become great again and it wont be acheived by joining the eu
of course there will be a few fights here and there but thats the fun of it all
For example, the ACLU is the poster child of an excessively open mind. They once filed a law suit on behalf of NAMBLA. Now, if that isn't evidence that their brains fell out, I don't know what is ;)
This morning I was thinking, why doesn't the U.S. just establish a world government? The planet seems to want/need a world government so if a world government is going to happen, we might as well be in control of it ;)
