The term should be re-titled, ''selective equality''. How many female motor mechanics do you see in oily dungarees lying under vehicles with greasy hands and grimy fingernails? Or, tyre fitters, lumberjacks, road diggers, steel fixers and so forth? The equality brigade must wear special glasses which filter out the aforementioned career categories as they browse the, 'Job vacancies' in the various media advertisements. Side: True.

The problem with feminism is that it has too many brands. It's often confused with women being against men, largely because many women who call themselves feminists exhibit exactly that. But the fact is that women still suffer from gender disparities, not just in the workplace but also in the family. Feminism has a single proposition. Equal rights and respect for both men and women. When businesses pay women less for doing the same work, there's no equal rights. When our society forgets that women do most of the work at home, especially the most important work of raising children, there's no respect. When we deny women the time to care for children and forget that they have different bodies than men, we are being careless and shortsighted. I wrote a piece about why men, myself included, ought to stand up more for women: http://room4debate.com/debate/ I don't know about you, but I know a lot of people, especially men, who were raised single-handedly by a hard-working mother. There are many of those, and it's unfair for them to have to do so much while men get to only care about being able to work. Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

You are confusing the lack of women in those fields with lack of women wanting to enter those industries. And there are women that do howl for equality of dangerous jobs. You are just furthering the stereotype, which is sort of ironic because you imply there isn't any. Example of when legislation barring women from entering into male-dominated industries is repealed. The way you framed the argument makes you the winner, but your victory is based on misconception of the issue. Here's the thing, Equality is not about the abolition of gender stereotypes, it's about equality of political representation and it doesn't just apply to women, otherwise, it wouldn't mean a damn thing. To clarify, Equality means the worker has equal access to the law, to the court, to healthcare, education and every other thing that it is necessary for human beings to have. That is the whole point of women's lib, because if women can get fair access to society, then ANY women can get that same right, which means that any man would also have to have those same rights. At the moment you have voted to shoot yourself in the foot, by thwarting the political liberation of women, you have consigned yourself and your tribe to the same oppression and exclusion. It's divide and rule and you've swallowed it whole. To clarify further, if you don't care about equality you are a bigot. If you do care about it you should support anyone arriving for it. You should reverse your stand and stand shoulder to shoulder with your fellow man to defeat the monsters who perpetuate the old systems that still blight our future. Side: Wait..., what? No!!!
