Obama has the opposite of the Midas' Touch

It seems like whatever Obama touches turns to crap.  He campaigns for fellow Democrats and they lose.  He tries to help people with their mortgage and they lose their home.

Read about it here.

The most ridiculous thing about him is that he received the Nobel peace prize shortly before sending 100,000 soldiers to Afghanistan.

That's what it appears to be. He doesn't seem to know how to handle the oil spill situation. His Afghan policy isn't seeming to work. His health reform was shoved down our throats. Frankly I'm fed up with Democrats.

The ones most qualified to fix the oil spill are the engineers at BP, not Obama. Our strategy in Afghanistan was created mostly by our generals. Healthcare passed with a supermajority.

These are big, complicated problems. Obama can't just wave his magic wand and make it rain gumdrops. People need to stop with the mindless bitching.

All of BP's strategies have failed. Obama oversees his generals policies along with his defense secretary and healthcare was forced upon the people. It only passed because the Dem's have the majority and our economy can't afford his healthcare plan.

This isn't "mindless bitching", but pointing out flaws in his plans and wanting to fix them. Maybe he needs to stop pussy footing and take care of business.

Side: Correct

Oh well...., so much for that hopey / changie crap ;)

Side: Correct

Well unless we're talking about the fact that he fixed the whole economy. That actually seemed to work out pretty well.

He fixed the whole economy?

Based on how you wrote it, you implied that he did so marvelous a feat single-handedly!

I seriously doubt that; in fact, I'd give greater credence to the idea that he's a reptilian - perhaps the most laughable of all conspiracy theories!

Side: Correct
4 points

Well I'm sorry if that's how it sounded, but that is far from what I meant.

His policies, which were supported and voted on by other democratic leaders and probably crafted by economic advisors played a large role in helping expedite the recovery of our economy.

Happy?

Wait..... He fixed the economy? Really? America is in $13 trillion dollars of debt. During Obama's presidency, he has added at least $2 trillion dollars of this.

Side: Correct
3 points

He certainly hasn't helped the debt, however, were it not for his actions the economy would never have recovered and government revenue would be much lower than it will be, meaning we'd be in an even worse situation, because we'd still be in debt, but the government would be earning less money to pay it off with.

During times of economic recession, the government needs to run a deficit in order to stimulate the economy. This is all that Obama is doing. During times of economic expansion, the government should run a surplus and this is what Clinton did. Bush on the other hand is the person who you should put a lot of the blame for our current debt on. He ran a deficit while the government was expanding.

As soon as we are back to full output, and the unemployment rate is back to its natural rate then Obama will stop running a deficit and begin running a surplus and paying off our massive debt.

Side: Wait..., what..., no!
trumpeter93(998) Disputed

Yea sure. Which is why soo many people are still out of work and we are still in a $13 trillion deficit. Not to mention those people draining the welfare system and living off food stamps. Yea everything is just fine.

Side: Correct
1 point

The unemployment rate is a lagging indicator of the economy. In other words the economy will have to be doing well for about a year before jobs catch up.

The 13 trillion dollar debt (not deficit, the deficit is about 1 trillion) is a big issue, however it can't be addressed until we get the economy back on track. Who you should be blaming for the debt are those presidents that continued to run a deficit when our economy was expanding. Clinton did it right: he ran a surplus when we were doing well. There was an initial, relatively small downturn within the first year of his presidency, but after the economy recovered he should have begun running a surplus. What did he do? Continued running a deficit, exacerbating the situation and fucking us over now that we are both in a recession and have a tremendous debt.

Uh... unless you want to for some reason leave mythical fairyland,

Outside of fairyland, Obama passed the largest healthcare overhaul in history - something presidents since Nixon have tried and failed at.

There are more jobs now than when Obama took office,

There are less deaths in Iraq and we're leaving just like he said,

We are concentrating more on Afghanistan just like he said he was going to do, and we've killed more Al Quada under Obama than we did under Bush,

And actually about half of the canditates have won nomination that he's supported, which is better than the tea party batting percentage.

You know why they failed? Because back then, people had larger brains.

Actually humans are, and have been getting inpercptibly smarter generation after generation. This has been going on for millions of years. Our big brains are our evolutionary means of survival. The biggest pussy 100lb chimp could kill freakin' Randy Couture in seconds in a cage match. Humans are pussies without our brains... that's all we have literally. I lift weights 5 days a week, most sloths can probably bench more than me, anyway, we're a bunch of fleshy weaklings compared to other mamals, reptiles, and pound of pound birds (forget insects, with like 10% more oxygen in the atmosphere, their exoskeletons and them would have killed all other life).

People keep getting smarter, that's what's cool about us. That's the only cool thing about us so try thinking for a bit.

Unless you back this up with some sources, I refuse to believe such nonsense.

The largest health care overhaul is costing a trillion dollars. We can't afford that with a $13 trillion deficit.

Those jobs are temporary census jobs. Most of them are now gone.

We are leaving Iraq and they are now in their 5th month without a government.

The conservatives are making a comeback and I wouldn't be surprised if they win in 2012.

The President has little to do with the affairs of a nation, the power is in Congress and Senate. Does the current Congress and Senate have the Midas' Touch? No.

Obama, may have the Midas Touch, but thanks to Republicans we may never find out. Voting no, requires little brains. Being a critic, requires little brains. Bashing one for trying, requires no brains.

Obama was handed a country in terrible economic straits and fighting two essentially unwinnable wars...

If we come out the other side of his Presidency and are still one country that speaks English, I think he did an alright job holding it together.

Obama can't be turning everything into crap if everything is already crap.

So, all he can do is turn it to gold or simply touch crap and not change it.
