Obama has the opposite of the Midas' Touch
It seems like whatever Obama touches turns to crap. He campaigns for fellow Democrats and they lose. He tries to help people with their mortgage and they lose their home.
That's what it appears to be. He doesn't seem to know how to handle the oil spill situation. His Afghan policy isn't seeming to work. His health reform was shoved down our throats. Frankly I'm fed up with Democrats.
The ones most qualified to fix the oil spill are the engineers at BP, not Obama. Our strategy in Afghanistan was created mostly by our generals. Healthcare passed with a supermajority.
These are big, complicated problems. Obama can't just wave his magic wand and make it rain gumdrops. People need to stop with the mindless bitching.
All of BP's strategies have failed. Obama oversees his generals policies along with his defense secretary and healthcare was forced upon the people. It only passed because the Dem's have the majority and our economy can't afford his healthcare plan.
This isn't "mindless bitching", but pointing out flaws in his plans and wanting to fix them. Maybe he needs to stop pussy footing and take care of business.
What makes you think anybody else would have succeeded where BP has failed?
What makes you think anybody else could handle Afghanistan better? He just swapped out McCrystal for Petraeus, what more do you want?
As for healthcare: People in the United States should not be left to die from easily treatable diseases. That's the bottom line.
Regardless, I don't know why you're saying health care reform is bad for the economy; because, according to the CBO, it'll reduce costs:
"The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the net effect (including the reconciliation act) will be a reduction in the federal deficit by $143 billion over the first decade."
Your whining and also not coming up with solutions. I'm not a politician and I didn't vote for Obama because I didn't believe he was qualified to handle this country. I stand by my decision.
Instead of spending I would make cuts to almost everything except defense because our safety should be of highest priority. I.e Reganomics
I would take all the troops out of Iraq except for 15000 and have the rest invade Pakistan because thats where Al- Qaeda is.
I would kick BP out of the gulf and get the cleanup underway. Letting commercial fishermen use their boats to help. I would have the Navy, National Guard, and Coast Guard running the cleanup. I would have these military branches create programs on how to deal with industrial disasters.
I would deport all illegal aliens and have a continuous electrified, razor wired wall along the border. There will be no warning signs put on the Mexican side of the fence.
Ok. I’ll give you some credit for actually coming up with a plan.
Before going to my general point, I have a few questions about your plan:
- About the Mexicans … you want them not enter the US, right? Or do you want to kill them?
- You want the Navy, National Guard, and Coast Guard running the cleanup… Who is going to pay them? Last time I checked a lot of Americans are complaining about how high the taxes are…
- Your plan makes it look like being President is pretty easy… Maybe I should run for President too…
- You should tell Obama where Al-Qaeda is. I'm sure he doesn't know.
Anyway, here I am criticizing your plan when it actually might work… or it might not. You could have more information than I do about the war or the oil spill allowing you to make a more elaborate plan.
You see my point?
Obama probably knows more about the war situation or oil spill than any of us. The CIA, the FBI, EPA, or BP might know more than Obama. Who knows?
What is informed to the people and the press is probably not even half of it. It has always been that way.The fact that I (maybe you too) am not an expert in war strategies, economy, or law makes me (or us) even more clueless about what is going on.
Without all facts, no decisions or definite plans should be made because the possibility of making a mistake is higher.
Well I'm sorry if that's how it sounded, but that is far from what I meant.
His policies, which were supported and voted on by other democratic leaders and probably crafted by economic advisors played a large role in helping expedite the recovery of our economy.
Wait..... He fixed the economy? Really? America is in $13 trillion dollars of debt. During Obama's presidency, he has added at least $2 trillion dollars of this.
He certainly hasn't helped the debt, however, were it not for his actions the economy would never have recovered and government revenue would be much lower than it will be, meaning we'd be in an even worse situation, because we'd still be in debt, but the government would be earning less money to pay it off with.
During times of economic recession, the government needs to run a deficit in order to stimulate the economy. This is all that Obama is doing. During times of economic expansion, the government should run a surplus and this is what Clinton did. Bush on the other hand is the person who you should put a lot of the blame for our current debt on. He ran a deficit while the government was expanding.
As soon as we are back to full output, and the unemployment rate is back to its natural rate then Obama will stop running a deficit and begin running a surplus and paying off our massive debt.
Oh, that bullshit again. Obama will stop running a deficit and begin running a surplus and paying off our massive debt.
Will we still be in a recession in 2011-2019?
The CBO’s analysis showed that the president’s proposed budget will increase the deficit to $1.8 trillion in 2009; $1.4 trillion in 2010; and $970 billion in 2011 -- falling to $658 billion in 2012 before rising again to $1.2 trillion in 2019.
The total deficit from 2010 to 2019 was pegged at $9.3 trillion. The deficit is nort expected to fall below a floor of $500 billion for the foreseeable future, the report pointed out.
In fact, the budget office found that Obama’s projected deficits are more than double what they would be if the president had merely stuck with the current spending and taxation proposals left by the Bush administration. Budget
Haha, not quite Sara. This idea is actually about as old as macro-economics itself, which really got started around the time that Keynes published The General Theory. In other words about 80 years old.
Classical micro-economics yes, however, before the 1930's no one really attempted to explain macro-economics basically at all. I'm not saying age has anything to do with its accuracy, I was just pointing out that these aren't new ideas.
Yea sure. Which is why soo many people are still out of work and we are still in a $13 trillion deficit. Not to mention those people draining the welfare system and living off food stamps. Yea everything is just fine.
The unemployment rate is a lagging indicator of the economy. In other words the economy will have to be doing well for about a year before jobs catch up.
The 13 trillion dollar debt (not deficit, the deficit is about 1 trillion) is a big issue, however it can't be addressed until we get the economy back on track. Who you should be blaming for the debt are those presidents that continued to run a deficit when our economy was expanding. Clinton did it right: he ran a surplus when we were doing well. There was an initial, relatively small downturn within the first year of his presidency, but after the economy recovered he should have begun running a surplus. What did he do? Continued running a deficit, exacerbating the situation and fucking us over now that we are both in a recession and have a tremendous debt.
You know why they failed? Because back then, people had larger brains.
Actually humans are, and have been getting inpercptibly smarter generation after generation. This has been going on for millions of years. Our big brains are our evolutionary means of survival. The biggest pussy 100lb chimp could kill freakin' Randy Couture in seconds in a cage match. Humans are pussies without our brains... that's all we have literally. I lift weights 5 days a week, most sloths can probably bench more than me, anyway, we're a bunch of fleshy weaklings compared to other mamals, reptiles, and pound of pound birds (forget insects, with like 10% more oxygen in the atmosphere, their exoskeletons and them would have killed all other life).
People keep getting smarter, that's what's cool about us. That's the only cool thing about us so try thinking for a bit.
Unless you back this up with some sources, I refuse to believe such nonsense.
You're new here. Use the site for what it's here for. Don't get comfortable with the synical Joe attitude, and don't become a Terminator. Look this stuff up outside of Fox and Newmax and learn about the world outside.
The Labor Department said on Friday payrolls rose 431,000 as the government added 411,000 workers to conduct the U.S. Census, the largest monthly increase since March 2000 and one that marked a fifth straight month of gains.
Obama acknowledged that most of the new jobs were the Census positions.
Plus, these Census jobs are all temporary until the fall.
Growth in government doesn't really count because it requires more taxation.
The President has little to do with the affairs of a nation, the power is in Congress and Senate. Does the current Congress and Senate have the Midas' Touch? No.
Obama, may have the Midas Touch, but thanks to Republicans we may never find out. Voting no, requires little brains. Being a critic, requires little brains. Bashing one for trying, requires no brains.
seeing a gold doesn't have a opposite this whole thing is irrelevant, and compared to Bush and the rest of the bat shit crazy republicans (Beck, Palin, McCain.) hes a good prez
they might have done something i liked, but not much, since their against a lot of what i believe in.
and if they were elected, even though it doesn't seem physically possible, America would become definitely become a lot more alienated, every European i have talked despises McCain and palin. and most Europeans think the hard right in America is a joke.
That's ridiculous. I have never seen him touch something gold and return it to its original, non-gold state. Your argument is clearly flawed at its very core!
