Prison sentencing...."good time for good behavior" wtf is that bs?

obviously our (usa) judicial system is quite flawed...everything from capital punishment down to the marble/granite they build the court houses with.

but where do they get off giving guilty inmates time off their sentencing for being good in jail? who gives a fuck if they get along with the guards or other convicts...if they dont, keep them in there longer. but this letting them go early on a previous crime, because they didnt commit any other bad acts during their stay is complete BS.

but if you understand the business behind the corrupt system...you will know why they want murderers, rapist and theives back out on the street...its good for THEIR economy.

its also why they lock up dangerous weed dealers, only so they can come out with a doctrine in smuggling cocaine over the boarder...or getting the CIA hook up on afghan heroin.

or the guy that got caught drinking and driving too much...some day he will get out, but wont be a man...he will be an animal thanks to the "corrections" prison fullfilled him with.

all these votes for this side but no good reasoning to support it?

why the fuck should it matter how good/bad they are in prison? and truth is, being bad shouldnt even be a possibility or a factor to other inmates....they should be in a cage/separated for however long their punishment entailed with no way of being a threat or "bad" to anyone....serve the fucking time they were given and remember how bad it sucked being completely removed from society... so they dont ever want to go back. but if that were the case, you dumbfucks couldnt pretend inmates are getting raped left and right as punishment.

Insentavising good behavior is a very affective strategy the works with everyone from children to employees. Also, many believe that prison should be at least as much for rehabilitation as justice (and I agree with that philosophy).

Besides, we continually have more prisoners than room for them. Releasing lower offenders and people who appear to be rehabilitated is born out of necessity.

so you think when they release prisoners early, it helps to rehabilitate them? that makes absolutly no sense whats so ever. if anything, it teaches them they wont be punished fully for their future crimes. "just be good after we catch you, and youll get released early "

lets imagine there is a strict 10 year sentence for anyone caught stealing twice...how many of them are going to learn their lesson after the first strike?

and dont give me the BS about over crowed..not enough prisons/cells/etc let the low offenders go early...that lie is all part of the master plan...you pack the animals in close together to make them get worse.

do you know anything about privately owned prisons? many of them are begging for more prisoners. yes, county jails get packed, but they dont give a fuck. and if they were a need for more prisons to be built...im sure stupid fucking tax payers like you would love to give up another 1% in order to fund them.

"they" dont want them in prison for long...it s better they are out making people like you feel as if you need the police/government protection.

do you ever watch the news/fear propaganda show? those stories are picked for a reason. have you ever seen a good report about over packed prisons? where they actually show the conditions...or how many prisons are spread out across the country?

Not universally, however can you explain how such a prospect would fail universally or even the majority of the time. Also, you are acting as though this system is applied simplistically to all prisoners, failing to recognize that different prisoners are released by different people for different reasons.

it teaches them they wont be punished fully for their future crimes. "just be good after we catch you, and youll get released early "

It is not guaranteed that you will receive preferential treatment in the future. And you are overlooking the fact that most people hate being incarcerated. A lot of folks, having done even a minimal amount of time, will work hard to not go back (not all, of course. I realize recidivism is high, but I doubt it has much to do with the reason you suggest).

And you are pretty off base on your petty assessments of me and my stances. Yes, if there is an unavoidable need for more prisons in a given area, I would support it, and frankly I would prefer that they be privately-owned. However, I am more interested in a)removing unnecessarily and unhelpful criminal offenses such as drug crime and prostitution; b) attempting to get to the root of the problem by better treating mental illness and trying measures to alleviate property.

I don't particularly feel as though I need the police, although I am grateful they are there. I feel that most of our inmates do not need to be imprisoned in the first place. Frankly, most of the ex-cons I know are more polite, intelligent and beneficial to society than you would appear to be based on what little I know of you.
