I used to romanticize the "simpler" life of small tribes. But people are smart and they eventually realize that if they band together, they can take out the smaller tribes. When you say that power is the real enemy, you're right. But how are you going to get rid of power when power itself is created every time people realize that by coming together they can take out the smaller groups? All you can do is wait for the power to burn itself out. But that's not a solution either because another power will just fill the void. Things like how the radical media (in Britain) was crushed by tariffs imposed by the government which made it impossible to turn a profit without resorting to advertising as a means to supplement income from circulation, and about how the United States media imported that same advertising model, bankrupting media which appealed to low-income demographics simply because their audiences had little disposable income to spend on consumer products.
