I am not really against most of the word of Jesus. Jesus isn't responsible for saying that if you don't follow Him you are doomed forever, that comes from His crazy followers. Jesus said some good stuff, like love your neighbor as you love yourself. That kind of stuff is good.
I do learn things but if it's certain things I don't agree with, I am not going to believe it. Like for example evolution. I have learned about it but I don't believe it.
Open minded means being open to the possibility that you are wrong. Closed minded means you are not. Are you sure you wanna call yourself closed minded?
Look, a debate site is for debates. If you're not open to you (or Christianity) being wrong then go to a Christian forum where you can lead an existence where everyone will agree with you and never question your beliefs.

Yeah, I know it's for debates. I admit sometimes I am wrong about somethings, but when it comes to Christianity in general I know I am not wrong about believing in it.
If you had listened to him, and what he says is true, then you would agree with him by now. Since you don't agree, you must not have been listening. This statement is true. I said so.
Oh I don't actually know. Sometimes people think that if you don't agree, then you must not be listening or you don't understand. Srom usually knows that people actually disagree with him, but in this case it appeared to be the former.
He used Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John who were all witnesses of Jesus. Plus when you think about it Jesus actually witnessed everything from the book of Genesis to where He got crucified.
It is already being spread faster than the average STD. Christianity is the largest, most widespread and fastest growing religion in the modern world, and it has steadily increased since its inception. And...the world hasn't gotten any better for it, or for any other religion either. It does not promote advancement (indeed, it often tries to stall advances) it doesn't serve as a treatment for evil actions (most of the most heavily Christian areas have higher levels of crime and corruption than more atheistic areas), it doesn't seem to make people happier (Scandinavian countries, with the highest levels of atheism in the world also have high personal satisfaction and standards of living), and it doesn't provide any objective morals that are not found in other philosophies. It doesn't help anything and it also doesn't need help to spread.
We do not actually know what the word of Jesus Christ was. The man, who likely existed historically, was just a man taken out of context and proportion. There is really nothing to suggest he said most anything that the Bible says he said. The only word that is being spread in the name of Jesus is the word of the Bible, a meaningless piece of fiction that people keep believing in for no real reason.
I will give you a 50/50 here. You may not wish to subscribe to the doctrine, but some things he has said are things that many people say are morally uplifting and should be applied to moral standards currently held. Somethings involve giving your life up for others or not retaliating against enemies out of love.
I know this argument was submitted ages ago but I just found it now because of my argument feed being messed up.
First of all I did not mean that Christians are lying, just that unknowingly what they are preaching are lies told intentionally by others hundreds of years ago.
Second of all Buddhism has way more evidence than Christianity. If you want to find evidence for Buddhism then just take a look inside your mind. Also there is not only evidence but solid proof that meditation has an endless banquet of benefits although you have to do it frequently for fairly long periods to get a lot out of it.
Tell those starving poor african kids that if they dont worship the words of a possibly fictional dead Palestinian Jewish Carpenter who lived over a thousand years ago, then they will live in a place where they will be tortured for all eternity? No thanks. How about instead we give them some food

Some of the things Jesus said are quite nice to have as a moral code within society. Some of the things he says are what some people believe are morally acceptable. Such as:
"When someone hits you on the cheek offer the other as well. When someone takes your coat let him have your shirt too." – Luke 6:29
"Love your enemies. And pray for those who persecute." - Matthew 5:44
"If one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the missing one till he has found it? How delighted he is then! He lifts it onto his shoulders, and home he goes to call his friends and neighbors together. “Celebrate with me!” he cries. “I have found my lost sheep.” – Luke 15:4-6
"To hang on to your life is to lose it. To let go of your life is to save it." – John 12:25
These are things that can be applied to moral standards. One doesn't have to subscribe themselves to the religion completely. One can take what they like. They totes do things with great works of literature. people take out the common theme and apply it to their lives.
