What have we learned (if anything) after years of animal testing?

We are told that animal testing is necessary in order to provide safe products to people.  But what have we really learned so far?

Animal testing has found cures for or treatments for Herpes Simplex, Hepatitis B, Polio, rabies, malaria, mumps and viruses related to organ transplantation rejection, and probably more.

I mean, it's easy to say you're against animal testing when you're healthy, but go out and get Polio, I'll bet you'd be more than happy to let a couple animals die to find a cure.

Who said I was against animal testing? I only created this debate in order to state that rats appear to be susceptible to cancer ;)

This is a rare sight! Joe used the "dispute" button!!! That rarely happens, even when he disagrees with people! lol

I don't know who said you said... I certainly didn't say.

I was using the "royal" you're/you'd

Side: rats are prone to cancer

Well, one of the things we have learned is that rats are susceptible to cancer ;)

Side: rats are prone to cancer

We have learned, or, rather, been further convinced that humans are perfectly capable of committing horrible, needless, cruel atrocities without a second thought.

Side: Humans can be heartless

One thing we have learned is that if you inject an animal with anything in great amounts that it will, in all liklihood, die!
