I think a lot of people wanted to watch the Human Centipede movie because they heard that it was pretty sick. Too bad it was lacking in story.
"A Serbian Movie" is about 500 times sicker; but that is offset by the story which is actually quite thought provoking. It's a movie which I would recommend trying to see through until the end at least once. Although most critique reviews suggest that very few people are able to make it through the whole movie because it's so sick.
You might have to watch it online as most countries have banned it from sale.
Although graphically it's a shock movie; the story line is very art-house and deals with issues such as social decay in a post-communists country, the effects of blind nationalism, and the exploitation in the Eastern European porn industry.
But I think the movie also raises a lot of complex moral and ethical questions too.
I think a lot of people would be inclined to agree with you. I do too. Although I have to say that the sickness of it all probably makes that message hit home a lot stronger. The only problem is, I saw that movie 6 months ago and I still have nightmares as a result.
