How late should teenagers be allowed to sleep in during the summer break?

Just put a time down as your argument.

Unless you feel like you need to get something off your chest,

in which case

take a picture or video.

I guess if you want to rant,

then that's fine too.

This is a joe_cavalry debate so

pretty much anything goes.

My kids would sleep in until well past 10:00 AM if I don't get them up. I think they should be up and about by 7:00 AM. ;)

I know how to wake them up. Make a rule that if they aren't awake by 7:00am you'll draw on their face with a sharpie. d/collegehumor.109efed679c861fcd64ad95df38ca54b.jpg

I was in the Army and I have a trumpet ;)

During the summer? I usually fall asleep at like 5am and get up at about 7am and take a nap in between 2-2:45pm. Just so I can get some extra energy.

Yes, during the summer. So get by on 3 hours sleep? Not bad. You must get a lot accomplished ;)

Lol I do. I actually do. I keep my butt imprint on the couch and always deplete our food in one day so yep.

I woke up at 10:30 AM today. A couple of weeks ago, I was waking up at 5 P.M.

I'm uh. I'm just going to assume the 10:30 in the morning is a little easier on the folks.

5 P.M.!?!?!?!? I would have gotten you out of bed by 7:00 A.M. ;)

7 A.M. is the twilight-zone hour for me. I'm not entirely sure it exists.

I usually stay up till like 10 or midnight and then I would sleep in until 9 -10 am.

Why you little sleepy head! You do realize that beauty sleep is a myth, right ;)

Oh Joe I love my sleep I wouldn't stay up that late really. I do love sleeping in as well. ;)

I think you should let them sleep as long as they want. It is summer break, they need a break from early mornings, they need to refill their energy with sleep :)

Sleep is healthy, and getting uninterrupted sleep is extremely healthy.

Wrong! They need to be up and about by 7:00 AM. ;)

As I said - uninterrupted sleep is necessary from time to time. You don't ''need'' to be up when you don't have anything to do.

As late as they want to. They deserve a break. If they don't have anything going on, I don't think there's a problem with sleeping in.

Teens need to get into the habit of waking up early so that when they get a job, they are never late ;)

I think teenagers should be able to sleep in as late as they want. But then again, I am a teenager so it only makes sense that I would think that. I feel like we are young and should be able to enjoy it during our summer break while it lasts. Soon enough we will have to wake up early almost every day.

OK, see...., you could think that, but you'd be wrong. Teens need to learn to get up early, like the rest of us ;)

I see your point, and it is every bit as reasonable as mine was. So I can't argue with it. But I still think that we should be able to sleep in as late as we want as long as it isn't getting in the way of important things that we are passing up just for sleep.

As for long as they wish. If they are sleeping, they are not out on the street and staying out of trouble.
