What if we evolve our technology to the point where our immediate needs are met?

What if we evolve our technology to the point where an individual has no need for any other individual except companionship?  A technology capable of providing us with food, water, shelter and clothing. A technology that allows us to focus on exploration and creation. I am fascinated by the idea of "seeding" other planets with life.

Our position in life might be something like we see in the movie "Wall-E." However that sort of state of existence would form fit a science fiction novel or conspiracy theorist's idea that we could be placed in a catatonic state, in which we are serving as some power's idea of a greater good or control. If we have a technology that allows us to live without moving then you could place an entire population into a catatonic state and allow them to live in dream world without ever having to face the stresses and risks of "real life." You just stumbled on the beginnings of the Matrix. :P

We would be like Gods ;)

No such thing as needs, only human wants, and since human wants are infinite, no way of telling. The only human need is air and sunlight.

If it were to be made, then it would be swell. But such as man creates unlimited wants, I believe that would never be satisfied since greed and envy are usually the traits of man.

maybe less war, and we could focus on advancements in science or something.
