Are you a racist bastard?
If you think you don't have a racist bone in your body, think again.
A new study published Thursday in the journal Science suggests many people unconsciously harbor racist attitudes, even though they see themselves as tolerant and egalitarian.
"This study, and a lot of research in social psychology, suggests that there are still really a lot of negative associations with blacks," said Kerry Kawakami, associate professor of psychology at York University in Toronto, Ontario, and lead author of the study. "People are willing to tolerate racism and not stand up against it."

turns out i prefer Jews to other religions, but i don't always view Native Americans as real Americans (which isn't true at all). the test is more of just a struggle between the left and right side of the brain than anything else, at least for someone like me. i can see though how it can show something about how the average American views others. Maybe I am a racist bastard but it's a level so subconscious that the only way I would have known it was by doing the quiz. I don't know about anyone else who has done this but I found that switching sides made it more difficult to respond quickly and correctly. It might tell a researcher something about populations as a whole but it didn't tell me anything about myself. Side: No way!

It is interesting to think that a black reverend once said that he would walk across the street if he saw another black man coming towards him. I need to find the link. IBRB... Ha, my wife found it: In Chicago Jesse Jackson said, "There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery -- then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved." http://www.oblogatoryanecdotes.com/2008/ Side: No way!
Your not a "racist basterd" if you let logic balance it all out. If you really think about it racism doesn't make since. It just isn't smart to hate a whole entire group of people. Because they are not the same person. People become blinded by pride and they become ignorant. That is how racism happens. Side: No way!

I've never seen these tests, thanks joe. I, like most people, am subconsciously a "racist bastard." (only slightly apparently, I thought it would be more.) I wonder what the majority of black people scored though? I didn't see a link that split results into groups. I'm curious whether it's from TV and news like the test suggests. I think it has more to do with the human pack instinct everyone is born with. And of course since there are more whites taking these kinds of tests, since there's more white people in the world, the percenteges would show that trend of a negative bias toward black people. If there were more black people, than the opposite would be true I have a feeling. But, it should be noted, that subconscience equations do not necessarily equal "racist bastard." Humans are born with an instinct to categorize every single thing that we see every day. That means no one is "color blind," and we all on a cave man level relate to those who look more like us, regardless of what you happen to look like. Nothing we can do about that part of our nature. Whether that instinct affects one's daily life, and whether one's conscience self acts differently toward a group is what makes one a "racist bastard." Side: OMG, I had no idea....
