No self respecting atheist would ever utter the phrase - Oh My God!!!

This is so self evident

I don't know why anyone would dispute it.

I'm on the fence about whether or not they should ever say, "Holy sh!t!" or "When Hell freezes over." ;)

They probably should refrain from using God's name in vain. I mean, there's a reason people don't say, "Bring me presents, Santa." Because there's no Santa. Also, if the atheists turn out to be wrong they could then say, "Well..., at least I didn't use His name in vain." ;)

Side: True, should say: Oh your God!

Atheists should also NOT allow every Tom, Dick and Harry to claim to be atheists. It dilutes the meaning if you have half-assed atheists. They need like a rule book or something; kinda like a bible. And they should gather together for support; kinda like a service. And they'll need some sort of doctrine/tradition that sets them apart. Hell, they should start their own religion and come up with some holidays ;)

Otherwise they risk being labeled "a bunch of people who hate going to church." And being an theists should be much more than that. ;)

Side: True, should say: Oh your God!

The main objective of religious people should be to give atheists Hell. Don't just say, "You are going to Hell." Give them actual Hell so they'll regret not being in a religion. It would also keep your flock in line. Once they see atheists getting Hell, they won't want to leave your religion. ;)

This also serves the dual purpose that, in the event there's no Hell, they would have already experienced it. I mean, why should they get to sleep in on Sunday while everyone else has to drag their ass to Sunday service? Screw that! Make them pay! ;)

I don't think it really matters, but I don't like the saying very much so I'm on this side, yay. Some Christians find it really offensive for anyone to 'take God's name in vain' so I don't think people should say it, atheist or not. I really hate the textspeak OMG, and how it is used in designs aimed at teenagers. I personally don't understand why anyone would wear a t-shirt with something that is not only tasteless, but offensive on it.

Side: I actually used to say "Oh I say" when I was in primary school because I grew up reading Enid Blyton books which were written in the 4/50's. I now use "Ye gods" (Discworld). The outside world isn't a thing.

Side: True, should say: Oh your God!

Oh Joe, you kinky bastard!

Side: True, should say: Oh your God!

Non-virgins don't seem to have any issue saying "I don't give a fuck!"

I don't believe the exclamation "Son of a bitch!" is making any assertion regarding bestiality resulting in the existence of a human-canine hybrid either. (Is goodmale around? Maybe he can answer this one)

Why should this be any different?

I don't see why not. It's not, say, taking anyone's name in vain.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

I say it and I have self respect. I'm also an atheist. Checkmate.

Both sides is wrong and this debate is sooo stupid. I am a 15 years old Christian and I don't agree with atheist but I have to say this low. This beyond low and sooo not worth debating about. I mean don't you people have anything better to do with your time?

Side: True, should say: Oh your God!

This is good. Mostly.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

I am an Atheist and I say 'Oh my god' rather frequently. I still have self respect. I believe it's just become an automatic response phrase to exclaim one's surprise to something rather than it having any religious meaning behind it.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

It is a hyperbolic expression, even among many monotheists. I do not personally say it, but that is simply because I prefer to avoid any confusion about my views on religion.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

I do it all the time.... of course I'm not exactly self respecting so you might be right.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

The most self respecting atheist could utter the phrase OH FUCK YOU GOD! Otherwise, that would work as well.

Side: Wait..., what? No!!!

It's just a phrase. We grow up saying lots of phrases that most of we don't take seriously.
