1 point

Very thought out! But what if this end world scenario involves hulking genetically altered humans that resist bullets more than your average meatsack?

2 points

Perhaps if you, as opposed to storing guns and ammo, stored blunt battering-worthy weapons, and accrue a posse of friends, you can raid tight quarter buildings, such as homes and apartment complexes, without the expense of searching for bullets. So in other words, guerrilla warfare. Doing so you'd likely find guns and ammo anyhow and could then ward off other militant groups with said ammo.

1 point

You didn't just say.... oh come off it!

1 point

Not sure if debate will get noticed,

or if Joe will spam it.

1 point

I could tell, Joe, and I'm not shocked ahaha.

2 points

In YOUR end-oh!

1 point

You are some angry bird! SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!

1 point

Some TROLLIN'! Don't forget the trollin'!

2 points

Some confused distraction. Throws in a strawman and a logical fallacy, maybe some allspice and salt to taste.

1 point

Some overstated statistic too often believed to be credible.

2 points

Some unwarranted personal remark.

1 point

Racist shit, buddy. You can't choose where you were born. Why would there be liberals born every day in America and not Canada, Joe?

1 point

Now I can thank my a-hole for my arrogance! Might as well just call me an A-hole for short!

1 point

Eh I honestly don't pay attention anymore, Joe. I've been on here, what, three years? Yeah the fucks I gave are long gone, ahahaha.

0 points

As soon as men are pushing this child through their vaginas, then yes, they may have an opinion.

1 point

I've worn three dresses in my hereto life, all of which belonging to my wife. This is because she has awesome taste, and because being a man isn't about being an ignorant asshole, all the time.

1 point

Yes, because, believe it or not, gay men also like to have bachelor parties, and, also, they may have different families and friends for either party.

2 points

I used to be straight but then... I saw David Bowie in riding pants when watching the Labyrinth.

1 point

Don't forget subatomic pricks and strange!

1 point

"it"; as in assholes, god, or mistakes?

2 points

Ahaaaaaah that's a little fucked up. A fetus can't believe, silly Joseph.

2 points

Cool, aha. Thank God.

1 point

I hope we all eat, and I hope we all regret it, and I hope we all eat again no longer than half an hour after that regret wears off. This is the manner of which thanksgiving is done!

1 point

Correction: Do not read, you might become an atheist

1 point

I have a friend in Oklahoma whom was missed by four miles. It's scary stuff.

1 point

Fucking foolish. As though god would subscribe to our american agenda as opposed to a more kind and humble nation, and that he would protect our marines but not feed starving Africans....... Stop me noooow!

1 point

That sounds pretty Joe like.

1 point

I'm more excited about National Masturbation Day

1 point

1) No. By any means, a reduction in their use will ease the transition to a renewable energy.

2) No. Everything is debated in science.

3) No. Government and Big Business interact on their own level, something of which we will never know the depth.

-

As far as the end goes, I just hope Christians are right and the rapture is soon, so that the devil, his minions, and us rational folk can attempt at seven years of peace without God to interfere. That would be my dream end.

1 point

It was bitter sattire based on assumptions of my beliefs. I know you, Pyg, you write with intent. It is a value I honor in your debating, and your frankness, but this is an example of the latter void and the former misused

1 point

Your response is aggressive. There is no reason for this. You also continue to assume things I had not stated, creating something to attack. Your opinion is clear, and your obviously fervent response shows you are not willing to debate, but rather boast your opinion. You flaunt your ignorance as though you are proud of it.

1 point

The fact that we are here to debate this implies humans prefer to continue existing.

1 point

That statement is riddled with negligence. Climate change awareness/activism is about preserving our existence as well as all life. We would die out under the cancerous mutations that an increase in ultraviolet rays would render. Life is not rare, and that wasn't up for debate in the context of the argument. The writer specifically tangents to make prose-like observations which are not addressing the question this writer initially sought. Almost all pure gases are harmful, it is their coexistence that has fostered our existence.

3 points

Porn is the media of sex and/or sexual acts that are usually produced for profit. Cancer is a disease where a group of cells grows rapidly and uncontrollably; those growths are tumors.

-

Being aware of the metaphorical approach, I still say that this is false. If one is a sex addict, then porn may be a part of their cancerous like habits, yet otherwise it is not obsessive. This argument can break down into nature versus nurture frankly, where nurture is how one raises them self, or self-control.

3 points

The nature of the term behavior changes in your argument. When it is in context with junk foods, it is the act of spending on frivolous and/or unhealthy products. When it is in the context of income, it directly represents ones total wealth. I have yet to see a rich person less prone to purchase lavished items when compared to a poor person due to tax rates. Nonsensical by both formal and informal arguments. Aristotle and Plato alike would be ashamed.

2 points

Burning a book for fear of it's content and derived stigma about a people group is ignorant. No intended nor positive end is met with this action. At the very least one flaunt their beliefs offensively, and at the most, provoke repercussions. Both of which do not strengthen the unvoiced belief or controversial frustration one holds towards any such book, it's contents, stigma, and so on.

2 points

That's clearly a clothed brunette, and he's alright looking, not amazing.

1 point

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

• Unbacked claim: power can be absolute.

• Statement does not adress frequency of occurrence. You have implied "always" unprompted.

-

"God is all powerful."

• Unbacked claim: there is a God.

• Statement neglects the possibility of traits other than omnipotence. You have assumed a sole trait of an object is in fact that object. Expansive properties require every essence of an object to have the same trait.

Obama is not one of my comrades, he's just the president of a silly nation.

1 point

I am aware that the majority of the members here have an affinity for debaing, hence their very presence. Except for maybe Joe, he just likes to screw with people.

3 points

HA! My thoughts exactly.

2 points

You think big government will save us from big business

Nothing saves us from big business besides big regulation.

You think it’s wrong to draw conclusions about groups of people (like Muslims) based on the actions of a few, but think all opponents of the Ground Zero Mosques are bigots … based on the actions of a few

Opponents of the ground zero mosque are usually igonrant that traditional Islam had nothing to do with 9/11, of the actual location of the structure, and that it is not a mosque. Bigotry is irrelevant.

You think murderers have the right to live, but unborn babies don’t.

To claim to know when life begins is selfish, and establishing laws extrapolated from such irrationalities is unjust and arrogant.

You think drugs should be legal, but fast food shouldn’t

No, I think they need to be both legal and taxed.

You are a fervent supporter of the first amendment, but think Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly should be forced off the air.

And such is my first amendment right, no? Action dictates the breach here, and there is no such action provided.

You think racism is wrong, but draw meaningful conclusions about a social or political movement based on the fact a majority of its proponents are white

I don't understand where this came from. Oh, the tea party? Yeah they're just bunch of angry white guys alright.

You think it’s wrong to legislate morality and prove it by consistently legislating morality.

Example requested.

You think conservatives are Nazis, bigots, homophobes, “tea baggers” and nutjobs, but stand firmly against hate speech.

All of those things can indeed be found in the conservative party, as can they in any other.

You believe in freedom of religion (there’s that pesky first amendment again) but hate Christians and find the word “God” offensive.

Those whom hate Christians and find the word God offensive are not exclusive of the group that believe in the freedom of religion. Another assumption made from the stunning disregard towards philosophy.

You have a “coexist” bumper sticker, but think all conservatives should die.

A random claim, at best.

You think Che Guevara liked black people.

...

You think the government should stay out of your bedroom, but want it to interfere everyplace else.

No, the government is a utility that should be used properly.

You believe in a free Internet, completely controlled by the FCC.

Says who?

You refer to the nation’s most successful news network as “Faux News,” while getting your information from Media Matters and Huffington Post.

Success does not correlate just. Napoeon was successful. Hitler was successful. The black plague was successful.

You think Andrew Breitbart should go to jail, but Mumia should be freed.

...

You are gay and support Palestine, where it is illegal to be gay.

The fact that I am straight has heretodate had no influence on my political beliefs. Palestine can be left to it's own meddling for all I care.

You think government corruption is wrong, but are in full support of the UN where corruption has run rampant.

Who doesn't think government corruption is wrong? Who doesn't want nations to converse?

You think there’s anything courageous about restraint.

Huh?

You believe in freedom of the press, as long as that press is reactionary and liberal. Otherwise, not so much.

Again, one can believe in freedom while still holding personal beliefs.

You hate Ann Coulter, but love Lisa Lampanelli.

What is the link here? How does an ignorant pundit have anything to do with a stand-up comedian?

You think taking from the rich to give to the poor is just, so that the poor can become rich, upon which money will be taken from them to give to the poor, etc

That is as well not true. Giving money to the poor is not done in the hopes that they will beome rich, but rather that they can strattle just above the poverty line as productive members of society; at which point, they no longer need support.

You are a strong supporter of feminism as the idea that women are strong, independent and powerful, but Sarah Palin should STFU.

(Written on hand) Just because Palin is woman, not prevent her from being idiot.

You think all “minorities” should be treated equally, but ridicule any member of such a group who doesn’t think or vote according to the progressive agenda.

Ridicule is a very accusing statement Joe. Both parties are upset about the choices of another, regardless of race. Little known fact, there is no statistical minority in America. Majority and minority statistics are taken only when there are only two group classifications to be compared with one another, otherwise it is considered a plurality.

You think a handful of anti-Muslim incidents proves all conservatives are evil, whereas thousands upon thousands of suicide bombings and terrorist attacks by radical Muslims says nothing about Islam.

No. Radicalism is radicalism, and is best avoided at any rate.

You support gay rights, but are convinced all gay conservatives are self-loathing and should be silenced.

Another thoughtless claim...

You report this post as spam or abusive because you don’t like it.

No, that makes you weak-minded.

Left and Right politics

The terms "left" and "right" appeared during the French Revolution of 1789 when members of the National Assembly divided into supporters of the king to the president's right and supporters of the revolution to his left.

-

Science

While empirical investigations of the natural world have been described since classical antiquity (for example, by Thales, Aristotle, and others), and scientific methods have been employed since the Middle Ages (for example, by Ibn al-Haytham, Abū Rayhān al-Bīrūnī and Roger Bacon), the dawn of modern science is generally traced back to the early modern period, during what is known as the Scientific Revolution that took place in 16th and 17th century Europe.

-

The Bible

The Bible is a compilation of various texts or "books" of different ages. The dates of many of the texts of the Hebrew Bible (or Old Testament) are difficult to establish. Textual criticism places all of them within the 1st millennium BC, although there is considerable uncertainty as to the century in some cases.

The oldest surviving Hebrew Bible manuscripts date to about the 2nd century BC (fragmentary), the oldest record of the complete text survives in Greek translation, dating to the 4th century (Codex Sinaiticus) and the oldest extant manuscripts of the vocalized Masoretic text upon which modern editions are based date to the 9th century AD.

-

Conclusion

The entirety of what is the modern day bible, according to data, predates Left and Right politics and Science altogether. The verse is void.

-

Post-conclusive remark

Read a different book.

1 point

Those concepts are irrespective.

1 point

I think this was on Family Guy a time ago, Joe.

1 point

It has been long revoked by the scientific community that the fourth dimension is time, due to the discovery of spacetime.

1 point

Well that is somewhat true, but there is a degree of authoritarianism that most all people dislike (as in Totalitarianism). Besides, I'm not going to ommit parts of my argument just because it doesn't reinforce my argument, such is trickery. I'm no trickster.

2 points

Many of Geisel's (Dr. Seuss') books are thought to express his views on a myriad of social and political issues: The Lorax (1971), about environmentalism and anti-consumerism; The Sneetches (1961), about racial equality; The Butter Battle Book (1984), about the arms race; Yertle the Turtle (1958), about anti-fascism and anti-authoritarianism; How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1957), about anti-materialism; and Horton Hears a Who! (1954), about anti-isolationism and internationalism. Shortly before the end of the 1972–1974 Watergate scandal, in which United States president Richard Nixon resigned, Geisel converted one of his famous children's books into a polemic. "Richard M. Nixon, Will You Please Go Now!" was published in major newspapers through the column of his friend Art Buchwald.

-

Dr. Seuss is essentially politically opposite you, Joe

1 point

Well, slurry Joe, you had asked how we are to get people to agree with us. I believe debate co-founded by people of nearly opposite beliefs such as you and I could really promote the idea.

1 point

Then it shall be a debate! Do you wish to be co-creator?

1 point

That is better, but it still proposes that there is a god, which as we know is a whole other debate. It would be more median to say "it is not enitrely impossible that evolution was guided. By what means is controversial". This also meets with the whole "Aliens made us" thing as well. And what do you think of that?

1 point

I'll have to disagree with you there. Just because we cannot protest a definite truth doesn't mean we can't find a middle ground.

1 point

I see this website as a platform for a congregation of 'everymans' to find solutions to the big issues. However this never happens. Maybe because we say things like Joe does. Sure it's funny for at least half of the parties involved, but it is to no end. I really wish we could have one debate without this crazy political game. The pressing matter is the issue at hand, not the opponent of your opinion.

-

For instance:

•Abortion

The real issue: Where does life begin?

Conservative approach: "Liberals are baby killers!"

Liberal approach: "Conservatives are freedom infringers!"

1 point

Let's all agree to sleep at night. That sounds plausible.

1 point

That almost does it for me, but there's still this lurking suspicion that she's all fake. Then again, who isn't?

1 point

Me too. When I was a kid in elementary school, I never had any stars under my name on the wall, I just had a bunch of sticky notes reminding me to turn in particular assignments. Those were the good old days...

2 points

Well done. You've earned your gold star today!

3 points

1 point

I had no idea!

2 points

My theory is that paper is a sort of preemptive strike in that by covering the rock, the rock then appears to just be a wadded up ball of paper. The implied subject would then percieve the rock as such, rendering him/her/it defenseless. Though this actually avoids battle, the lack thereof is victory in my book.

1 point

I never downvote either. Well, unless someone is clearly abusing this site. Such as using it as a medium to promote products or security scams and dating.

2 points

I don't know what to say but so be it Joe. Let's start some namecalling.

-

Now I'm sick of the conventional 'tree hugging hippie' vs. 'money hoarding hick' names, so I'm ready for some less conventional ones. Ideas anyone?

1 point

The old steakhouse, not the XT. There's just something about A1 on a burger...

1 point

And the world keeps on spinning ...

2 points

You should copy that argument and save it for the next debate.

3 points

Really ?

1 point

Being as birds are the closest decendants to dinosaurs, they'd probably taste like chicken. That's not so bad though, chicken burgers are great.

1 point

I'm glad you've taken the time to respond to a post I've so long forgotten about. Reguardless, I will refute your parables.

-

Fisherman story: Your underlined theme is competition. You claim that competition; A) provides jobs, B) improves products/services, and C) improves the overall quality of life.

If this is incorrect, inform me of such before I proceed.

-

Student story: Your underlined theme is capitalist economics. You claim that a capitalist economy; A) is self contained, B) naturally balances itself, and C) needs no regulation.

If this is incorrect, inform me of such before I proceed.

1 point

It took my sanity so I disowned it.

-

It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here

And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear

That I'm not here.

2 points

Exactly. How much easier ones life is from their parents depends on what situation one is born into.

1 point

The way I've understood it is that the generational quality of life improves differently according to financial class. This is not only because having more money means being able to afford more and greater goods, but also because technology is advancing parabolically. The more poor your family is, the less likely life has gotten easier over time. The inverse is also true.

3 points

If quizes are quizical, what are tests ?

2 points

True. War is terror .

1 point

Why can't we all instead play the same game and not care about anyone's affairs besides our own?

1 point

Militant activism is being fueled by political figures in America. This is not what we need, however, it seems inevitable. the "antichrist" in your prophecy would be humanity as a whole for bringing forth our own end. We will become the evil we fear.

1 point

Obama has a lot of more dear situations to deal with than promoting KFC. I don't really understand why you have suggested Barak Obama. If it is because of the color of his skin, I can become very 'active' very quickly. But I hope that is not the occasion. So tell me, why was this debate made?

In your scenario, the teacher acted poorly. To obtain a socialist grade system, the teacher would need to respond in a manner that is true to socialist ideals. In that, I mean the teacher should have focused on properly educating the F student. And by not disiplining the faliure of the student, the student does not feel as though the system is against him/her. In other words, socialism is not an attempt to squish all of the classes to the middle, instead it is a system that eliminates the proletariate by means of prosperity.

-

I am aware you mentioned nohting of dicipline. My addition to your story was a method of which I could explain to you another Social concept.

2 points

I am not sure where you derived your comment from. I don't believe I mentioned anything about communism, let alone cultist govern. It doesn't seem that you are responding to me, it seems you are responding to yourself over your disposition towards communism and cults.

I wish I understood, but being as I don't, I ask you clarify your statement. Thank you.
